Presenter's Bio
Jeff Swano has been an outdoor enthusiast, naturalist and gardener for most of his life. He graduated in 1984 from the University of Iowa earning a Bachelors degree with an emphasis in Environmental Studies and Economics. For 20 years, he worked as an environmental economist, essentially demonstrating the economic benefits of keeping the environment clean.
In 1998, he helped form the Salt Creek Watershed Network, a local river-advocacy group, and served as its Executive Director until 2004. He served eight years on the Village of Brookfield’s Conservation Commission, and as its Chairman helped Brookfield to restore an award-winning 10-acre oak savanna, and originated “Meet the Creek” day. He has also volunteered his time to restore our local forests and prairies.
In 1998, Jeff formed Dig Right In Landscaping in response to demand for his design and gardening talents. In 2005, he expanded Dig Right In to combine his diverse background so that the company focuses on organic-only lawn care services, natural yard drainage solutions, and designing and installing eco-friendly landscapes and simplifying at-home vegetable gardening.
Jeff currently serves as Chairman of the Sustainable Landscaping Committee for the Illinois Landscape Contractors Association.
